OCCUPATION &
RESISTANCE
Photos from Palestine
Opening
6.00pm Tuesday 2 February, then open 10.00am - 6.00pm
Wed-Sat, and 10.00am - 3.00pm Sunday
Showcasing both the daily experience of Palestinians living under occupation and the joint Palestinian-Israeli non-violent resistance to the Israeli state and military, ‘Occupation & Resistance- Photos from Palestine’ features courageous images from the front line of the struggle for justice in Palestine.
These moving images are the work of the widely published group ‘ActiveStills’, a collective of photographers based in Israel, who believe in the power of photography as a tool for social justice. Formed in 2005, they have since held and participated in exhibitions in Munich, Olympia, Bil’in (West Bank), Tel Aviv, Toronto, Montreal, Malmo, Lund and Amsterdam.
Events will be held during the week of the exhibition by local groups campaigning on the issue to raise awareness and mobilise solidarity with Palestinians.

WHO WOULD YOU
BE WITHOUT YOUR STORY?
New works by Tonia
Geddes
Open 10.00am - 4.30pm daily.
The works in this exhibition started with the idea of patched patterned samples and how they can act as a marker of time and a collection of memories.
Personal story is often bound by such memories (and those prompted by photos and stories retold) and can come to represent who one thinks oneself to be. But who are we really if these stories are abandoned? The defining of ourselves through such psychological impressions can leave one either yearning for the past or projecting the mind to a happier more fulfilled future and thereby ignoring the present moment. The Indian sage Sri Ramana Maharshi advocated that all that is required for peace and fulfilment is to take no notice of these narratives but to see only the light behind them - the ultimate truth of the Self. It is these ideas that are explored in ‘who would you be without your story?'.
