All Quiet
The country’s still getting into the new year/decade mode, and the release schedules are quiet, causing a familiar tone on all charts. There are no changes at the top this week with most new action happening in the Singles Chart.
Festival sell-ons continue to register with this week’s Big Day Out set to make impressions in the weeks to come. Two BDO acts, Muse and Lily Allen, have already experienced fresh sales thanks to the show.
The first of 2010’s big new release should see Ke$ha’s Animal album debut easily chart next week. Her former #1 single Tik Tok is #6 this week.
The
New Singles
#32 Cascada - Fever
German trio (Natalie Horler, DJ Manian and Yanoh) have the highest new entry of the week. New at #32, Fever gives them a second hit following on from #2 Evacuate The Dancefloor. Their album of the same name spent a solitary week at #28 in September last year.
#37 Black Eyed Peas - Rock That Body
The E.N.D. yields a fourth hit, taking the Black Eyed Peas’ tally to 13 here since their March 2001 Request Line debut (vocals were by Macy Gray, and the song peaked at #10). Rock That Body is the latest in a long line of equally instructional ‘body’ hits on our charts, dating back to Osibisa’s 1976 #5 Dance The Body Music. Other hits telling you how to move include: The Jacksons’ Shake Your Body (#8 1979), Pump That Body by Mr Lee (#41 1990), Move Your Body by Eiffel 65 (#4 2000), Justin Timberlake’s Rock Your Body (#4 2003), Move Ya Body by Nina Sky (#6 2004) and the most recent invitation, Touch My Body by Mariah Carey (#3 2008).
#40 Rihanna featuring Young Jeezy - Hard
Barbados-born Rihanna will mark five years of hits in August. To date she has charted four albums including her current one, Rated R. The second hit from that set anchors the 40 at #40 this week bringing her singles tally to 17 since Pon De Replay made the top out of the box. Along the way Umbrella and Disturbia also made #1. Now Hard sees Young Jeezy nab a third slice of action. Both his previous runs have been in a guest role. The 32-year old seems to chart once in even-numbered years, reaching #23 in 2006 with Say I by Christina Milian and #1 in 2008 on Usher’s Love In This Club.
