Five Worthy Groups Benefit From Latest Round Of Grants From The Harcourts Foundation

21 December 2009: Five worthy groups have benefited from the latest round of quarterly grants from The Harcourts Foundation in New Zealand, Harcourts New Zealand CEO Bryan Thomson announced today.

The recipients – a volunteer fire police unit, an intermediate school, a primary school, a trust promoting healthy living and cancer prevention and raising funds for cancer research and a youth- focused social services provider - were recently awarded grants totalling $20,500 having made successful applications to The Harcourts Foundation, which as Mr Thomson explains was established by Harcourts last year in New Zealand and Australia to provide financial support that helps, grows and enriches local communities.

With these grants together with a number made in Australia recently and grants made in both countries earlier this year The Harcourts Foundation has donated more than $265,000 to 41 charities to date.

Mr Thomson says he is thrilled that through the voluntary donations and fundraising efforts of the Harcourts team The Harcourts Foundation can support the efforts of a variety of deserving charitable organisations doing valuable work in the community.

“Harcourts has a strong tradition of giving and I am delighted to see how much support The Harcourts Foundation is getting from our team and from the public, enabling it to grow and create a very special legacy in the community.”

As Mr Thomson explains, aside from a small portion set aside to support major emergency relief efforts the money raised for The Harcourts Foundation in a particular region goes back into that area and 100% of the money raised is donated as Harcourts International Ltd is funding the Foundation’s running costs.
