Final Band Added To Big Day Out Lineup

Big Day Out Announces Bnet/Groove Guide Winner, Silent Disco Line-Up And Sandy Bay Social Club
The final band added to the BIG DAY OUT bill is Auckland’s POP STRANGERS who have emerged victorious from a nationwide battle conducted through the bnet radio stations and Groove Guide.
POP STRANGERS hail from Auckland and have bounced their way into indie kids’ hearts with a string of wonderfully warped singalongs on their debut EP. Already proving adept at slipping swiftly through the gears of fast/slow dirty/angelic dynamics with a Doorsy psychedelic swoon on tap, POP STRANGERS are one of the most exciting new bands in town.
Shhh. What’s that sound? A tree falling over in the forest or just another BIG DAY OUT punter tripping himself up in a boogaloo frenzy at the SILENT DISCO?
Premiered at the BDO in 2006, the Silent Disco returns to the BIG DAY OUT to electrify disco dancers with their mixes of dance, hard house, punk, salsa, twenties swing, alternative, world, electro, hardstyle, gabba and Dixieland, all through the convenience of wireless headphones! In the Double Channel SILENT DISCO, which features new 2-channelled digital headphones, party people can choose from DJ OD & DJ Steven Guts OR the guest DJ at the time and have a good old fashion dance off! Guest DJs include Isaac Aesili (Opensouls), the notorious Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society, DJ Automatic, party boy Clarke Gayford, party girl Phoebe Fox, and a set from Pig Out with live instrumentation!
In between bands on the Smokefree LOCAL PRODUCE stage this year, the BIG DAY OUT has enlisted the services of the Sandy Bay Social Club to keep the party moving.
