Parachute 2010 Flash Mob today

Parachute 2010 enthusiasts are gearing up for a Flash Mob this afternoon, named The Giant Birthday Cake Fight.

Today is the last day that earlybird tickets are on sale for the birthday Festival, and this mob will be throwing cake in Auckland’s Albert Park to mark the occasion.

Hundreds are expected to partake in the cake fight, led by Parachute Festival’s trademark crowd-warmers the Mad Men.

Parachute Music celebrates its 20th birthday at Parachute 2010, and tickets to the four-day Festival are discounted until midnight tonight.

Crowds will gather at the park’s Band Rotunda at 2.30pm, and have been informed by Parachute Music’s social networks to bring their own baked goods.

Parachute Music Funding & Communications Manager Blair Dale says the event is heralding a new way of communication within the organisation.

“With the rise of members on our Facebook, Twitter and Bebo accounts, this has made way for a new and continuous form of communication with our demographic. It’s so much easier to get everyone on board with events, in half the time.”

Free Festival tickets will be given away at the Giant Birthday Cake Fight, and things are set to get more than a little rowdy.

Parachute 2010 will be held from January 29 – February 1 at Mystery Creek, Hamilton. Headliners include Switchfoot (U.S.), Underoath (U.S.), Hillsong United (AUS), Leeland (U.S.), Family Force 5 (U.S.), NewWorldSon (CAN) and Falling Up (U.S.).
