Real Groove Beats 1am Curfew
Music has a long history of collaboration with fashion, and in this spirit, the March 2010 issue of Real Groove will ship with a free copy of 1AM magazine.
When Pavement co-founder Glenn Hunt launched 1AM in 2008, it marked a fresh new direction in fashion editorial, and magazines in general. 1AM offered an original, inspirational and meaningful alternative to the elitist and dictatorial approach to fashion taken by other publications.
With an emphasis on photography over text, 1AM didn’t tell you how you should look or what to wear, but rather promoted fashion as an expression of individuality and a celebration of personal style. 1AM said it’s okay to be different.
Having led the way online for the last four issues with a fresh and original interactive format, the ninth issue of 1AM will return to print with a New Season’s Fashion Special printed issue published for Autumn/Winter 2010. It will be banded together with Real Groove March and distributed to all paid subscribers, industry and over 1,000 retail outlets nationwide making a total distribution of 6,000 copies and a readership of 49,000.*
Now in its 18th year, Real Groove has established its position as the independent voice of the New Zealand music scene. With an absolute commitment to quality journalism, Real Groove has become a key influencer of the popular culture influencers.
1AM/REAL GROOVE will hit the streets on 1 March 2010, with the same distribution strategy planned again for the Spring/Summer 10/11 season in September.
* Real Groove’s readership according to Nielsen Media Research National Readership Survey October 2008 to September 2009.
