ARK presents

OPSHOP Live at the Gardens

With Jordan Luck Band, Dane Rumble & Annabel Fay

See some of NZ’s best native musicians play this summer in one of Hamilton’s most stunning natural locations.

The ARK Tour presents this ‘concert for conservation’ as part of the Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival, with OPSHOP, The Jordan Luck Band, Dane Rumble and Annabel Fay rocking the Botanical Gardens on Saturday 20 February from 6.30pm (Rain date Sunday 21 February)

OPSHOP are widely regarded as one of the finest musical talents to emerge in recent years and their 2008 awards success says it all, with 4 NZ Music Awards and the APRA Silver Scroll for NZ’s song of the year. They have been hidden away in recent months recording the follow up to Second Hand Planet, no doubt Hamilton audiences will hear a few sneak previews at the gig!
As front man and pop-writing genius with the Exponents, Jordan Luck clocked up a staggering 18 top 40 singles over the years, with Victoria recently voted by public as the 8th greatest New Zealand song of all time. At the APRA Silver Scroll Awards 2007 Jordan was announced as the inaugural inductee into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.

Ex Fast Crew founder, Dane Rumble, has created an instant buzz with his first solo offering Always Be Here. A mixture of fast paced synth rock combined with a killer hook and hip-hop vibe, the single received massive airplay, remaining in the top 20 for 16 weeks. An album is due for release by the end of 2009. Completing the stellar line-up is young kiwi singer Annabel Fay.

The concert will also be supporting a fantastic conservation project at Hamilton Zoo, helping to save the vulnerable native Hochstetter’s Frog. Funds raised will go towards the building of a new enclosure for the frogs and assist with the zoo’s captive breeding and research programme.
Sarah Bettle, Director of the Waikato Times Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival says that the inclusion of the ARK concert in the 2010 Festival line up is a marriage made in heaven

"We are thrilled to have the ARK line up as a headline act for 2010 and it heralds a whole new standard and scope in entertainment for the Festival. The Hamilton Garden venue is perfect for the artists and we expect to see thousands of fans of all ages turn up to the Rhododendron lawn for what will be the perfect family feel-good summer event. Not only will the music and venue combine to be a sensational evening of entertainment, but the knowledge that everyone will be contributing contribute to one of the city's key conservation efforts is just the icing on the cake"

Jason Kerrison from OPSHOP adds, “OPSHOP is committed to making a stand for the environment wherever and when ever we possibly can. Frogs are mysteriously disappearing from the planet. In fact one-third of the world’s amphibians have already gone extinct, and more are disappearing each day.

The work that the folk on the ARK Tour are doing with the Concerts for Conservation is invaluable to taking steps to researching and remedying this phenomenon at a local level and we are proud to be involved. We also look forward to providing a sneak peek of our newest offerings. "
Pack a picnic or grab some tasty treats on site, as a range of food options will be available. The concert is strictly no BYO alcohol as a range of Yealands Estate Wines will be available for purchase at the bar, along with beers and soft drinks.
This evening will be a great opportunity to bring the family, enjoy some top NZ music and know that you are doing your bit to help a great local conservation project!
