Musical Spheres For Air Force Band CD
The Central Band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force is set to launch its latest CD, entitled Music of the Spheres.
Available from Tuesday 1 December, the CD is a tour de force for the band that showcases a variety of musical genres in
the one compilation.
The CD includes the monumental title piece Music of the Spheres by composer Philip Sparke who also wrote the foreword
for the disk, jazz numbers such as Fly Me to the Moon and I’ve Got You Under My Skin. There is also, as befitting a
military band, John Philip Sousa’s march The Washington Post. The CD also features medleys from the James Bond films and
The Sound of Music.
The Air Force’s Director of Music, Squadron Leader Owen Clarke says he hopes Music of the Spheres will be a hit with the
band’s supporters and the wider public.
“This recording is world class. The band is very proud of it and I know it will be well received by the public.”
Music of the Spheres will be available through the Air Force website, www.airforce.mil.nz, or from Parsons Books and Music in Wellington.
