A “High” school education is comedy gold.
COMEDY CENTRAL DECMBER 2009
AUCKLAND, Friday 20th November, 2009 – A self-serving, private school transfer student from the “posher” side of Australia, an overly-sensitive, highly-dramatic teacher and a rule-breaking, break dancing Tongan student with a penchant for tagging. It’s just another day at Summer Heights High.
The award-winning and critically acclaimed mockumentary makes it’s debut on Comedy Central NZ as Chris Lilley’s hilarious, sometimes crass yet charming show highlights the lives of Ja’ime (who was debuted on Lilley’s first mockumentary We Could Be Heroes), Mr. G and the ever popular delinquent Jonah Takalua. Follow them as they try to assimilate into the Australian school system and alienate nearly everyone they meet students and staff alike.
Lilley’s creations earned him Australia’s highest television award, the Logie, and further highlighted his comedic genius, taking on all three roles and bringing “dick-tation” and “puck you Miss!” into the pop culture’s lexicon. Summer Heights High will have you wetting your pants and starting to care about the characters that, by rights, can be unsympathetic from the outset.
Not content with merely coming over to New
Zealand to perform, Jason Alexander has been collared by
Comedy Central NZ to bring to audiences his top ten Seinfeld
moments. Though that’s no easy task, this is the actor who
brought us perennial down-and-outer George Constanza.
Costanza Bonanza counts down the greatest moments from
Jerry, Kramer, Elaine and of course George, as Alexander
explores the defining moments from the iconic television
series about… well… nothing at all (the cast’s words
– not ours!)
Celebrate Christmas Day with a healthy
dose of British humor; laughter is, after all, good for
digesting the barrage of Mince Pies and Christmas stuffing
you’ll have to endure this year! Show us Ya Brits –
Christmas Cracker will have you thankful for what you have
as The Goodies have to resort to selling Buttercup for a tin
of Baked Beans… Graeme’s idea to plant it though becomes
a catalyst for all things silly to take place. While Harry
Enfield and Chums continue the laughs with Tim-Nice-But-Dim,
surly teenager Kevin and Wayne and Waynetta Slob the kind of
company that would make you grateful even for the most
annoying Aunty and Uncle you may have!
Christmas
isn’t the only tradition Comedy Central will be
highlighting either – Comedy Central Roast continues in
December with it’s Most Outrageous Moments pushing the
envelope of good taste to the very limit. That’s saying
something, considering the likes of Sarah Silverman, Bob
Saget and Jimmy Kimmel have all taken part in the roasts, be
it in the hot seat or delivering a stinging tribute, and are
all known to push the boundaries crassness. Watch some of
the most unflinching, hilarious moments from the history of
the roasts – including Flavor Flav, Pamela Anderson, Larry
The Cable Guy and the one and only William
Shatner.
