Huge Gala Day For Canteen
Huge Gala Day For Canteen
The New Brighton Cricket & Marching Canterbury teams are working together to support CanTeen (Canterbury / West Coast Branch) with a huge Gala Day on Sunday 29 November, expecting over 1000 people to attend.
This event will have something for the whole
family, including a 20/20 Cricket match between New Brighton
Senior players and an Invitation Team. Rob Dixon, from the
New Brighton Cricket Club, will be entertaining everyone
during the match with music and commentary of the
cricket.
In addition there are food stalls, fun events happening for kids and stalls run by the Marching Canterbury girls after their morning competition.
CanTeen is the New Zealand peer support organisation supporting young people aged 13 to 24 living with cancer. It is built upon the fundamental belief that young people, through meeting, talking and sharing their experiences, are better able to cope with the uncertainties of living with cancer.
CanTeen provides a place where members can share their experiences and feelings with other young people who know what it’s like to live with cancer.
The money raised through this
event helps CanTeen provide vital support, skills and tools
for the 160 young members living with cancer in this region,
either as a patient, sibling or bereaved
sibling.
