Defence Māori Group to Perform at Te
Konohete
The New Zealand Defence Force is once again participating in the Te Konohete festival. This festival for public sector agencies that promotes and celebrates waiata, tikanga and Te Reo Māori, whilst facilitating and enhancing cross agency relationships.
The New Zealand Defence Force roopu is made up of serving members, civilian employees and whānau from the various Māori Cultural Groups within the individual Services. The roopu performing will travel from all over the country to perform together for one special night.

Background
Since the first Te
Kōnohete five years ago, the Ministry of Justice has
extended the invitation to ‘participate and perform in the
concert’ to other public sector agencies, promoting and
celebrating waiata, reo, and tikanga Māori on a wider scale
and building inter agency whanaungatanga. New Zealand
Defence Force, an active participant in waiata, tikanga and
Te Reo Maori is a regular performance group at the concert
and will be making an appearance once again this
year.
