Can you help stock our food banks?

Can you help stock our food banks?

What: Wattie’s Cans Film Festival

When: Wednesday 28 October, from 5:00pm*

Where: SKYCITY Cinemas, Hoyts, Reading Cinemas, and independent cinemas across New Zealand

A can of food is your ticket to a great night out at the movies on October 28, with the Wattie’s Cans Film Festival back for its 16th year.

Moviegoers can trade in a can of food for a movie ticket to a range of blockbusters such as Bandslam, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Last Chance Harvey, at 37 selected cinemas across the country.

All donated cans of food go towards the Salvation Army’s Christmas Food Bank Appeal which provides needy families with food parcels.

Food Bank visits have soared 40 per cent this year, showing that it’s been a tough year for many.

Wattie’s will generously match every can of food donated by the public with one of its own – so will double the overall donation for needy food banks!

Wattie’s is hoping to smash last years tally of 20,530 cans, and edge closer to the 1,000,000 can mark, with around 900,000 cans being donated over the past 15 festivals.

Cans of food are able to be exchanged for tickets from today, October 19, and because participating cinemas are donating their theatres, time and movies, there will be no rain checks or repeat screenings, so make sure you get in early to avoid disappointment.
