First Line-Up Announcement For Parihaka International Peace Festival

Last night Festival Director Te Miringa Hohaia announced the first confirmed acts for the fifth anniversary Parihaka
International Peace Festival, held at the historic Parihaka Pa in South Taranaki between 7 and 11 January 2010.
Mr Hohaia said, "We have contracted other topline acts but we are very proud of the line-up standard of this initial
announcement."
Confirmed acts are Brisbane bands Kooii and Kingfisher, the newly formed Bellbirds featuring Don McGlashan and Sean
Donnelly, Herbs, King Kapisi, L.A. Mitchell, Ladi 6, the Lewis McCallum Orchestra, Moana & The Tribe, Rio Hunuki Hemopo and SJD.
"We will be announcing another thirty acts or so before our event, including a couple of the top players in the NZ music
industry."
Two stages will again feature at the festival, along with a speakers' forum, film tent, extended children's recreation
and more. Apart from his mainstage performance, King Kapisi will host a performers' workshop for teenagers. Acclaimed
choirmaster Stephen Taberner will again organise and rehearse the Parihaka Festival Choir.
