Keep New Zealand Beautiful conference and national awards in Rotorua this weekend
ROTORUA 22. 09.09: Keep Rotorua Beautiful is hosting the annual Keep New Zealand Beautiful (KNZB) national conference this weekend, which includes an awards evening, the organisation’s annual general meeting and a tour of the district.
Winners of the annual Most Beautiful Town and City awards will be announced on Friday night, with acting KNZB chairman Tony Rush presenting the awards. Moxie Design director, Peter Salmon, will be the guest speaker.
Rotorua has taken the Most Beautiful City honour four times in the last 10 years.
Other guest speakers for the conference include Eastern Fish and Game manager Rob Pitkethley, Rotorua MP Todd McClay, Environment Bay of Plenty’s Peter Schofield, with workshops presented by Denise La Grouw and Rick Mansell on Ms La Grouw’s community garden at Hannah's Bay.
Rotorua District Council Keep Rotorua Beautiful coordinator, Christine Findon, says delegates will have the opportunity to see why Rotorua is regularly a contender for most beautiful city and has won the title on four previous occasions.
“During the weekend’s celebrations we will take delegates on a tour which will include the city waterworks, trout hatchery, recycling centre, and the community garden at Hannah's Bay. Guests will enjoy a truly local Rotorua experience.”
The annual Keep New Zealand Beautiful conference is being held at the Sudima Hotel from 25 to 27 September.
