Music therapists take to the stage
Staff at New Zealand’s only music therapy centre, the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre, are taking to the stage for a variety chamber music concert.
The music therapists and friends are collaborating for the fundraiser concert with a programme including Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, La Campanella by Paganini for six hands at the piano, as well as their own original compositions.
Performing in front of a large crowd is not new for the therapists, who are all talented musicians in their own right.
The therapists, all of whom have music degrees as well as postgraduate qualifications in music therapy, say they’re looking forward to their clients and their families seeing them perform.
Tickets can be purchased at www.rmtc.org.nz for $20 each.
When: Wednesday 23 September, 7.30 – 9.00pm
Where: Auckland Baptist Tabernacle, 429 Queen St, CBD
What: Fundraising chamber music concert in support of the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre
About the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre
The Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre (RMTC) in Auckland opened on 18 March 2004 and is New Zealand’s only music therapy centre.  The centre provides music therapy for special needs children of school age and younger.
Music therapy is about building bridges of communication through music and actively engaging individuals in potential growth, development and change through the power of music.
For many people, music helps reduce a sense of isolation and creates new possibilities for participation in the world and a more creative life.
The centre receives no government funding and clients pay only as much as they can afford.
