Paige comes on board as CanTeen Ambassador

Nineteen year old surfer Paige Hareb might be a fish out of water when it comes to design, but fellow CanTeen ambassador Federation’s Drew Gregory has given her some valuable advice.

The pair met today (Monday September 21) to check out this year’s designs ahead of CanTeen’s major public annual fundraising event, the Bandanna Challenge (October 16-31).

Paige, who is currently ranked number three on the women’s international circuit, is CanTeen’s newest ambassador.

She’s thrilled to be supporting the organisation because of the work it does for people in her own age group.

“Even in the past couple of months I’ve known people that have had cancer – and it’s a thing you don’t want to see. Seeing them has made me want to help out and support CanTeen wherever I can.”

Her favourite design of 2009 is CanTeen member Grant Hawthorne’s purple bandanna and she’s looking forward to the challenge of designing her own next year.

“It will have something to do with the ocean,” she says.

Federation has created a bandanna design for three years with their 2009 bandanna being an extension of their range.

“We chose pink because it was something that was going to stand out, and with the triangle we’ve tried to incorporate something that’s a part of the collection,” says Drew.

His advice to Paige is to make her 2010 design bright and attention grabbing.

There are nine new bandanna designs from CanTeen’s ambassadors: Dan Carter, Maria Tutaia, Hollie Smith, Lisa Tamati, Federation and CanTeen sibling member Grant Hawthorne.

Bandannas can be purchased for $4 during the two weeks of the Challenge from PAK’nSave, New World, Four Square, Jeanswest, BP, BK, Radius Pharmacy, Farmers, Repco, ASB and all participating schools throughout the country.
