Winner of the NICK ROCKS

And the winner of the NICK ROCKS! 2009 Competition is...D.N.A.!

The votes have been tallied and we can announce that the winner of the 2009 Nick Rocks! Competition is D.N.A from Auckland!

The all boy band D.N.A. formed back in 2005 at Mt Albert’s Gladstone Primary.  Practicing weekly at one of the member’s homes, the boys aspire to write more original music and make their own album one day.

They’re one step closer to their dream having won the Nick Rocks! 2009 Competition.  D.N.A. will experience what it’s like to be real rockstars when they record their winning single in a professional studio.  The boys will also be interviewed for a feature in Upstart Magazine’s October/November 09 issue (due out on October 5) and will receive nationwide radio play on Classic Hits.  Their professionally produced full length music video will air onNickelodeon (SKY Channel 041) for all Nickheads to see nationwide from Saturday 3rd October..

With rock music their forte, D.N.A. draw inspiration from the likes of Midnight Youth, Coldplay and Green Day.  Their stage experience includes Battle of the Bands and numerous school events.

Runners up Dancestars and Thorrington School of Rock received their fair share of votes in this year’s competition also, however didn’t quite match the level accumulated by D.N.A. “We’d like to congratulate all three finalists in this year’s competition, along with all of those that entered Nick Rocks!,” says Danielle Knight of Nickelodeon NZ.  “D.N.A.’s success just goes to show that if you really follow your dream it might just happen!”  All three finalists have had mini music videos produced for them by Nickelodeon from which Nickheads nationwide have decided and voted in the final Nick Rocks! winner.

Nickelodeon’s 2009 competition has the support of a host of successful Kiwi bands and musos. From Nesian Mystik to Annabelle Fay to Midnight Youth to J Williams to Clap Clap Riot – Nick Rocks! is regarded by all as a great starting point for aspiring Kiwi musos to join in the success of the New Zealand music industry.

So tune into Nickelodeon (SKY Channel 041) to watch 2009’s Nick Rocks! Winner Band D.N.A. and their full length music video on air from Saturday 3rd October.
