Rhythm & Vines Announce Second Of Three
Programme Line-Ups And Key Partners For 2009
RHYTHM & VINES are pleased to announce the second of three outstanding programme installments for 2009. These additions to the first stellar line-up combine international heavy-weights and local legends which enhance the diverse and exciting programme.
Fame and success is something which few artists of recent times have enjoyed quite to the same level as MOBY, who has garnered mass critical acclaim and sold millions of albums worldwide. Headlining major festivals, and touring with everyone from Aphex Twin to Red Hot Chilli Peppers in previous years, MOBY is set to return to New Zealand to play RHYTHM & VINES for the first time since the release of his new album Wait For Me.
UK chart toppers EDITORS hit RHYTHM & VINES on the back of the release of new album In This Light And On This Evening available in October. The Mercury Prize-nominated group have affirmed themselves as one of the most vital guitar bands of recent times, and their live show is not to be missed.
Bootlegging kings 2MANYDJs (LIVE) - the alter egos of Belgian groove-gurus Stephen and David Dewaele from Soulwax –are set to perform a cracking LIVE set this year at R&V. Joining them in the line-up from Australia on the dance tip will be AJAX (Sweat It Out), known for mixing it up in style, plus Modular’s BANG GANG (Doom & Hoodrat) and DJ EMERSON TODD.
Making their debut New Zealand performance are UK trio FUTURE OF THE LEFT, who have won over an army of fans with albums Curses and the recently released Travels With Myself And Another. FUTURE OF THE LEFT throw down the gauntlet for what rock music should sound like, and their music is melodically brutal and uncompromising in its lyrical bite.
New York band WHITE RABBITS also hit NZ for the first time, yet are no strangers to the international festival circuit. With previous stints at Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, WHITE RABBITS will bring their dark pop essence to RHYTHM & VINES this year.
From closer to home, OPENSOULS are set to inject some soul to this year’s festival, while DANE RUMBLE is set to bring the noise with his fresh new sound, post-Fastcrew. bNet favourite DICTAPHONE BLUES brings an indie-pop sentiment to the programme, while local psychedelic/experimental darlings AN EMERALD CITY return home from Berlin primed for RHYTHM & VINES on the back of a swag of European tours and festivals.
Bringing their DJ prowess and rounding off the second instalment are TRUTH, RUGGED TECHNIQUES, NICK D, CAM ROBERTSON, DEAN CAMPBELL, ALEX BULL, ANGE, BEAT MAFIA, LOTION and QUAY STREET SOCIAL CLUB DJs.
These acts join a top-notch first announcement of artists which include EMPIRE OF THE SUN (AUS), MAJOR LAZER (US), MIDNIGHT YOUTH, KRAFTY KUTS (UK), STATE OF MIND (LIVE feat. PNC) and LCD SOUNDSYSTEM DJ SET (US). Stay tuned for an exciting third programme instalment to round off the RHYTHM & VINES line-up in the coming weeks!
For festival goers who are keen to make the most of their New Years experience and stay close to the action, RHYTHM & VINES are opening a new On-Site Campground nestled in amongst the vines of the stunning Waiohika Estate. Campers can live and breathe R&V throughout the festival period, easily moving between their camp site and back to the crowd– all within minutes. With features including 24 hour security, hot showers, Wi-Fi access and a free shuttle to and from Gisborne, On-Site Camping at RHYTHM & VINES will be in hot demand this year. Booking details can be found under Accommodation via www.rhythmandvines.co.nz.
RHYTHM & VINES are pleased to welcome some fantastic partners on board for 2009. Summit Lager, Jagermeister and Bulmer Harvest Cider return to the festival and are joined by Coke Zero and Yellowglen as key sponsors. This year's supporters are really getting behind the total festival experience and will be adding new zones and fun twists.
The Jagermeister Zone was a definite highlight in 2008, and returns this year better than ever with a state of the art sound system and programme. Festival goers can also experience an ice-cold cider in the Harvest Cider House whilst taking in the panoramic view.
For those who are sick of mosh-pits and queuing for portaloos, ticket upgrades will be made available for a more luxurious festival experience in the stunning Yellowglen Lounge overlooking the main RHYTHM & VINES arena. Luxury attended toilets, cocktail bar, delicious wines and cheese from the Gisborne region, complimentary Yellowglen bubbly on arrival and the best view in the house are just some of its features. Upgrades start at $60 per day, or $150 for 3 days and go on sale shortly. Further details regarding features of the Yellowglen Lounge can be found at www.rhythmandvines.co.nz.
Other partners joining RHYTHM & VINES are Pump, who will be pimping out the waterslide; Mother Energy (to keep you partying all night); and official technology partner, Panasonic, who will be capturing all the magic festival moments on camera. Further partners will be announced shortly.
