CPAG strongly endorses the New Zealand Psychological Society’s selection of Sue Bradford as the recipient of their “Public Award”. Sue Bradford has done outstanding work to highlight the unpalatable facts about child poverty in New Zealand. CPAG is honoured that she has chosen CPAG to be the charity of her choice to receive her $500 “Public Award”.
Over the years, CPAG has had many reasons to thank Sue Bradford. She has been a tireless advocate on behalf of children and beneficiaries. Sue helped to bring the last government to a public acknowledgement of child poverty in New Zealand. She spoke in support of CPAG’s Human Rights case against the government for denying Working for Families benefits to our poorest children. Sue Bradford became an MP to speak for those whose rights are denied by law or circumstance and drove the change to legislation that allowed parents to beat their children. CPAG salutes Sue Bradford for all of this heroic work
