42BELOW announces new music competition.
42BELOW, in association with MTV presents 42unheard
42BELOW has unleashed a new music competition that they hope will help propel one lucky band to the forefront of the music scene. The competition, 42UNHEARD which launches on September 1st offers one unsigned band the opportunity of a lifetime….
The amazing first prize includes a release deal and A support from Universal Records, funding for music video from NZ On Air, studio time with professional producers and engineers (tailored to suit output of winner) and a trip to New York to perform at the infamous CMJ (College Music Journal) music marathon – where the likes of MGMT, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Beastie Boys made their name.
On top of this the winning band will also be featured on top NZ radio stations The Edge and Kiwi FM, have their music video played on MTV and be profiled in Real Groove Magazine. They’ll also be ringing their friends on new LG Arena mobile phones to tell them they’ve won.
The competition isn’t just about the winners though – ten of the best entrants will also score time in the Red Bull Studio with one of their renowned technicians with their tracks being featured on a 42UNHEARD promotion album to be released in 2010.
Music fans will also play a key role in the competition, with the 5 finalists being chosen via consumer voting on www.mtv42unheard.com. Fans will be able to vote once a day to ensure their favourite bands gets the best chance of making the finals. All voters also go in the draw to win some great prizes from the competition partners.
The competition will be run over 3 main phases – Call for Entries (September), Consumer Voting (to choose finalists (October) and the Live Final - featuring the top 5 acts (December).
42BELOW has enjoyed a long relationship with music and this competition is about giving something back to the broader music community.
