the recruits’ final week. Emotions erupt as one of the

CONDITIONS OF LOVE (INTERNATIONAL DOCO) - Tuesday September

To the Chinese, she is a terrorist. To
her people, Rebiya Kadeer is a leader, now in exile in the
US after years of speaking out at the treatment of the
Uighurs, a Muslim population of 20 million people in a
region they call East Turkestan, and the Chinese call
Xinjiang. This documentary looks at Kadeer’s incredible
sacrifice for her beliefs, having done six years solitary
confinement in a Chinese prison, and now seeing two of her
sons in the same situation because of her activism. Twice
nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, once the richest
businessperson in China, Rebiya Kadeer is a remarkable woman
who pays a terrible price for patriotism.

artists from a wide range of disciplines. Tonight: Dancer,
choreographer and lecturer Terri Ripeka Crawford is known
for her collaborations across the creative sphere.
RAISING THE MOKO (NZ DOCUMENTARY) – Wednesday September 2 at 8.30 PM
The next in the
‘Knowing Ourselves, Knowing Each Other’ documentary
strand. Raising the first grandchild is a tradition among
Maori, but is often an under-funded struggle. This is a
moving portrayal of those who have taken up the challenge,
and all the joy and heartache this entails.

known, occupy an unusual position within South Asian
society. They are considered social outcasts, existing in a
strange, no man's land.
