Media Release

August 12th 2009

Discover a Different Way of Living, Renovating and Re-decorating at the 2009 Yellow™ Auckland Home Show

Only at the Yellow™ Auckland Home Show, ASB Showgrounds, Wednesday 9th September to Sunday 13th 2009, can you design your garden, plan your renovation, learn about colour trends, see cooking shows and more, all under one roof! But wait, there’s more, with seminars on how to maximise your property investment, renovate on a shoe-string or discover how to be more environmentally economic at the same time. Talk about multi-tasking! This show is a must-see for all home owners.

With a theme of ‘A Different Way of Living’, visitors this year can expect to find hundreds of creative ideas on how to make the most of their homes within budget or beyond. And in addition, a lineup of stimulating and informative attractions will keep visitors informed and inspired for all five days.

The Floradell Street of Houses returns, a cul de sac of inspiration featuring ready-built homes complete with gardens and landscaping co-ordinated by the legendary Jim Townsend. The entrance to the street will feature a large Floradell display, designed this time around the theme of ‘escape to the bach.’ And with tropical gardens and innovative water features, there’s plenty to inspire for building and gardening ideas.

The Fisher & Paykel World Cooking Theatre will take visitors on a tasting trip around the globe. The 2009 timetable is packed with classes demonstrating exotic recipes, sweet treats, and fine dining tips. From seafood delights to canapés you can make at home, Croatian, Asian cuisine and baking, every meal of the day is covered! Pick up some great recipe ideas and cooking tips from New Zealand’s greatest chefs.

Off-the-wall interiors are sure to be a highlight in the Designer Feature Rooms, with five leading interior designers given free-reign to create their most inspiring interior spaces. With a theme of ‘Quirk It Up – A Different Way of Living,’ expect interiors, colours and furnishing combinations you never imagined displayed in a way you never thought possible!

The Green Urban Living exhibition is filled with workshops, tutorials and interactive gardens. Green living experts will be giving demonstrations and tips throughout the day on a wide range of topics from organic gardening, composting, and permaculture, to DIY cleaning products and simple tips on how to save on your power bill. There will be two working garden/outdoor areas as well as an informative workshop space and children’s’ hands-on area.

There’s also a lot to take note of with the Home Design Seminars to inform and inspire on a wide range of topics from renovating to redecorating. Experts in their respective fields will be talking about designer kitchens and bathrooms, colour palettes, lighting options, spatial planning, gardening for the soul and more.

Christine Neil from Property Profilers and her team run the Property Know-How Seminars, a fantastic range of expert knowledge condensed into 20min seminars, with new topics throughout each day of the show. Understand the market, the true valuation of your home and much more.

And for some valuable one-on-one advice, sign up for Ask the Experts; a free 20 min consultation with one of the team from Certified Renovations. Bring your ideas, blue prints and questions about home renovation to experts who can help turn them into concrete plans. Then if you need ways of funding that home renovation project, David Whindler from Auckland Home Loans will be the man on hand to discuss how the right home loan and mortgage plan can make owning your dream home achievable.

The Walk of Gardens is the Willy Wonka factory of gardening. This gorgeous garden gateway is co-ordinated by the team at Auckland Landscape Supplies, showcasing a selection of creative outdoor spaces, gardening techniques and materials, including edible gardens and innovative sculptural and water displays.

The Designer Living Pavilion will show visitors how to add a bit of luxury to their humble homes. 16 companies have collaborated to create this space; experts in a range of fields armed with fantastic products, services, expert advice and displays that will get visitors thinking, creating and redecorating.

And there’s also a display of some of the world’s most unusual habitats in A Different Way of Living; an exhibition of some of the most inspirational and revolutionary homes from around the world, houses that defy physics, common sense, and push the boundaries of imagination.

With nearly 600 exhibitors, the Yellow™ Auckland Home Show is a must for all home owners and those looking to improve their living environment with five packed days of information, inspiration and entertainment with expert advice, and more.
