In an eventful launch week for 2degrees mobile, New Zealand consumers have showed overwhelming support for their newest mobile network. With 50,000 Chinwag subscriptions locked in prior to launch, it wasn’t surprising that a further 28,000 subscriptions have flooded in since Wednesday’s launch.
On social networking site Facebook, an open and representative forum has developed gaining over 20,000 fans since the page was posted less than 6 weeks ago. Fan comments range in topic from technical support requests, to ideas for new products and services.
Facebook fans, having adopted the 2degrees website ‘robot’ Jeff, have also independently put him up for auction on Trademe.
This fits with 2degrees foray into the online auction arena where sought after mobile numbers from 2degrees’ new network are available to bid on with all proceeds donated to Kidscan. What is purported to be New Zealand’s luckiest number 022 888 8888 has a current bid of over $4,700.
2degrees also looks forward to rounding out their first week in business, by supporting Telethon 2009 the Big Night In.
“The interest shown in 2degrees has been amazing. It really demonstrates how passionate Kiwis are about staying connected. Telethon is a uniquely New Zealand way of coming together which is why we are proud to be major sponsor of this event”, says 2degrees Head of Communications, Bryony Hilless.
