Band Experiments Offer Exposure

Do you want to gain New Zealand-wide exposure for your band?

If that interests you or if you like the idea of playing to a large audience, then the York Street Studio’s Band Experiments 2009 is an opportunity for you.

Previous Band Experiments have provided a platform for artists such as Cornerstone Roots, Shora Shima, The Datsuns and Katchafire to launch national and international careers.

The Hamilton Live Music Trust is proud to have taken over the rights to host this event which will give Hamilton bands an opportunity to increase their profile and chance to win some of the amazing prizes on offer, which include recording time at York Street Studios.

Scott Ratuki, a board member on the Live Music Trust, said the Trust was really excited to have York Street Studios as the event’s naming rights sponsor this year.

“The Board is really excited to be able to host the event and to have one of New Zealand’s premier recording studios as its naming rights sponsor - a fantastic opportunity for both the event and the winning band”.

Shows for the York Street Studio’s Band Experiments 2009 are being held at Flow Bar 266 Victoria St, Hamilton over five consecutive Thursdays from September 17 to October 15.

The Band Experiments consist of four heats which each feature four bands. Each band plays a 20 minute set and the winner of each heat is announced on the night by a panel of judges.

The final will be held on October 15th and will feature the four heat winners as well as a wild-card ‘people’s choice’ entry chosen from the heat participants.

Along with nationwide exposure the winning band receives, amongst other prizes, recording time at York Street Studios together with a band mentor for a year.
