Chance For Photographers To Air Talent
Auckland, July – Sony is once again holding the Alpha D-SLR Photography Competition designed to give up and coming fashion photographers the chance to demonstrate their creative talent at Air New Zealand Fashion Week.
The
competition invites entries from those currently undertaking
tertiary study which relates to photography or those
planning to undertake study in 2010.
Fifteen
photographers will be handpicked and offered all access
passes to Air New Zealand Fashion Week along with a Sony
Alpha A380Y digital SLR camera for use during the week to
capture all the action and excitement.
Entrants will be judged on photos taken throughout Air New Zealand Fashion Week and the winner will receive a Sony Alpha camera package worth more than $2,500 and a scholarship for tertiary tuition fees of up to $3,000 for a course relating to fine arts, design or photography in 2010.
Last year’s competition saw talented entries from aspiring fashion photographers who captured catwalk shows as well as all the behind the scenes glamour. Fine arts student and last year’s winner Sacha Stejko quickly caught the judges’ eye with her diverse and edgy image portfolio. Sacha was closely followed by second placed Yoon Tae Kim and third placed Isaac Lee.
New Zealand’s Marketing Manager for Digital Imaging Products and member of this year’s 2009 Alpha D-SLR Photography Competition judging panel, Sam Williams, is excited about this year’s event.
“Entrants have the opportunity to mix and mingle with
accredited photographers and take photographs in a
professional environment,” says Mr Williams.
“It’s
a real privilege for Sony to be involved in this way,
helping new photography talent break into the fashion
industry, and it’s a great way to showcase the creative
potential of our Alpha D-SLR cameras.
This year, Sony’s
involvement with Air New Zealand Fashion Week will span
across a range of areas, with Sony’s BRAVIA televisions,
VAIO notebooks and Alpha D-SLR cameras among the products
playing a big role at the event.
The competitors’
images will be streamed live onsite via the Sony Alpha
digital display and images will be available to view in
Sony’s brand new exclusive photo frame.
VAIO notebooks will be placed around the Air New Zealand Fashion Week venue for fashion attendees to surf the web between shows and log on to Front Row Diary to vote for their favourite photographer in the People’s Choice Award and go into the draw to win a Sony Cyber-shot.
Competition entry forms, including full terms and conditions can be downloaded from www.sony.co.nz or www.nzfashionweek.com. Entries close on Monday 31 August.
