Queenstown continues to fly the Kiwi flag in global travel awards
It’s official – Queenstown is the best city in New Zealand.
The resort has again been voted third in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific category in the Travel + Leisure Magazine World’s Best Awards.
For the fourth year running, Queenstown has been the only New Zealand city to snag a spot in the top three, but was pipped again by Australian cities Sydney and Melbourne.
Destination Queenstown CEO Stephen Pahl said
it’s fantastic to see Queenstown maintaining such a strong
position in the world’s top travel
magazine.
“Queenstown is consistently the leading
tourism destination in New Zealand and this has been
reinforced by this survey from readers of Travel +
Leisure,” he said.
“We’re once again the only New Zealand city to feature and I’d say it’s safe to say Queenstown’s unique appeal and stunning lake and mountain scenery were definitely winning factors in securing the votes.”
Mr Pahl said Queenstown was ranked just shy of Melbourne’s position at number two, and it would be great to see the resort knock the Australian cities off their top spots next year.
Travel + Leisure (US Version) is the world’s highest circulating travel title. The 14th annual ‘World’s Best’ awards are voted by readers of Travel + Leisure, and are a reflection of the tastes of a sophisticated readership.
Another Queenstown winner was Millbrook Resort, coming in at number 15 for best resort in the Australia, NZ and South Pacific category.
