Marie Antoinette Reigns Over Courtenay Place
It was the world’s most valuable necklace. It became the world’s most intriguing mystery.
The incredible true story of The Affair of the Diamond Necklace will have the St James Theatre sparkling with intrigue. Authentic food, lavish sets and live entertainment will unravel this extraordinary tale on Saturday 15 August in a world-first experience of interactive theatre.
Guests will enjoy not only a delicious banquet and beverages in the style of old Versailles, but also talk with Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI and other central figures in The Affair of the Diamond Necklace. Dressed in ornate clothing of the era, the guests play a crucial role: revealing secrets, uncovering lies, and influencing the fate of all France…
“This is a premier event in which the magic of the theatre will combine with fine dining and French flair,” says Norbert Koptisch, Food, Beverage and Events Manager of the St James Theatre and Opera House.
The Affair of the Diamond Necklace is a collaboration between the St James Theatre, Wellington’s most prestigious performance venue for nearly a century and Eklektus Inc. Eklektus Inc is an international collective which has already made an impression on Wellington, conceptualising and installing the permanent exhibition ‘Blood Earth Fire’ at Te Papa, and the larger (and louder) than life tui on the Forest and Bird building on Victoria Street.
From 6.30pm, Saturday 15 August, St James Theatre, Courtenay Place, Wellington
Tickets: $145.00 per person. Includes banquet meal and live entertainment.
Book direct with the St James Theatre: Phone 04 802 6912 or events@stjames.co.nz
