Amisfield 2008 Pinot Gris Recognised By Prestigious Uk Publication
Amisfield Wine Company’s 2008 Pinot Gris has been singled out by the prestigious UK wine magazine, Decanter, as one of only ten exceptional latest release New Zealand wines.
The Decanter recommendations follow NZ Wine’s recent “Summer” New Release tasting in London, an exclusive event attended by leading UK media, retail and trade buyers.
Amisfield General Manager Fleur Caulton is excited about the outstanding result for the winery’s Central Otago vintage.
“This sort of recommendation is so important for us. Decanter has a huge following and is the wine bible for many wine enthusiasts in the U.K. It is the first time Amisfield has been selected by Decanter and the response we are already receiving underlines the significance of this rating.”
Decanter describes the Amisfield 2008 Pinot Gris as “rounded and full with a soft, finely spiced cloak around lines of cool minerality. There’s some attractive, lifted floral aromas, alongside green fruit, and while the palate is silky and alluring, it also has bite and direction.”
“We knew when we produced our 2008 Pinot Gris that it had the x-factor but to be selected by Decanter as one of their ten top New Zealand wines is an absolute bonus for us,” says Ms Caulton.
The Amisfield 2008 Pinot Gris was made from fruit grown at the Amisfield Wine Company’s vineyard at Lowburn in Central Otago and produced at the company’s state-of-the art production facility at the Lowburn site.
