Salmonella Dub Freak Local EP Released June 29th
Salmonella Dub release their new EP Freak Local through Virgin Records on Monday 29 June.
Freak Local is a selection of mixes from Salmonella Dub’s impending 7th album. The EP features vocal contributions from the amazing Tuhoe diva Whirimako Black and MC madness from Aotearoa’s Celtic Rasta The Mighty Asterix, all freshly mixed at the band’s Hapuku studio in Kaikoura.
Freak Local is an anthem to the New Zealand individuals who refuse to conform. Every village, town and city has freaky characters and, as Andrew Penman from the band will attest, they can often be found still at the bar after the band has left the stage; “They are often the characters you remember and bump into again and again. It’s their stories and perspective on life that create the back bone of New Zealand”.
In July, Salmonella Dub will play sell-out shows on their 30th tour of Australia where they will road test new material before returning to the studio to finish work on their next album, due for release in October.
Freak Local track listing:
1. Freak Local (radio cut)
2. Dub Cakes
3. Madness
4. Freak Local (EP mix)
