Queensland the hot favourite with Centrebet

Qld $1.53 to win Game 1, and $1.54 to snare 4th straight Origin series!

All-conquering Qld has opened $1.53 hot favourite with bookmaker Centrebet to win the opening State of Origin game in Melbourne next Wednesday night, and has already been heavily backed into $1.54 favourite to win a fourth straight series!

Centrebet media chief Neil Evans said there was no hesitation in opening Qld a short-priced favourite to win game 1, despite Maroons’ selectors still to announce their side today, and their NSW counterparts for once picking a team that was “going places!”

“The balance in NSW looks pretty good, flare and youth in the backs, a mobile second-row, very clever hooker and experienced props, but again it’s a case of whatever the Blues put on the board, the Maroons will double through an almost uncontainable backline!”

Evans said Qld had already been heavily backed from an opening $1.60 into $1.54 to win the series, and command almost 75 per cent of a near $80,000 outright hold! NSW has drifted to around $2.47 in series betting and has opened even bigger - $2.50 - for game 1!

Meanwhile, Nth Qld Cowboys have firmed into $10.00 to win the NRL premiership after thrashing the previously super-consistent Newcastle last night! The Knights have virtually swapped places with the Cowboys on Centrebet, drifting out to $13.00!

Four clubs – Melbourne, Brisbane, the Dragons and the Bulldogs - are vying for favouritism on the $6.00 mark! The big drifter has been the NZ Warriors who have blown from $12.00 out to $21.00 in a matter of weeks!

The hapless Sharks remain favourite for the wooden spoon ahead of the Roosters!
