Medley - Opens Tonight

Thistle Hall is a vibrant community centre in the heart of New Zealand's cultural capital. We provide a community hall, meeting room and Wellington's only community gallery showcasing a range of artists and crafts people, from the established to the emerging. Thistle Hall is located on the corner of Cuba and Arthur streets. The shows on at Thistle Hall Community Gallery are run by the artists who hire it.

Aaron Maffey & Andre Lamb

From Monday 11 May to Sunday 17 May, Aaron Maffey and Andre Lamb will fill Thistle Hall with a sizable collection of works. A mix of print, paintings, stencil, sculpture and aesthetically altered objects, the work shown is a culmination of three years spent creating pieces in a singular studio environment. These are the surviving parts of collections past, long term projects and experiments set alongside recent solo and collaborative pieces.

Visit Thistle Hall on Monday 11 May at 7.00pm for refreshments and an opportunity to peruse the works and speak with the artists.

Alexandra McGavin

Alex was born in 1948, in and has spent most of her life in Lanarkshire, Scotland. She and her husband, Gordon, emigrated to New Zealand in 2006 and are now settled happily in Waikanae.
She is a basically self-taught artist, but Alex also studied under Scottish painter KIM REDPATH, and has attended life drawing classes at GLASGOW SCHOOL OF ART. She has been painting for over thirty years.
Samples of Alex’s work have been exhibited in GLASGOW, EDINBURGH, LONDON, FRANCE, POLAND, GERMANY and NEW ZEALAND, and she has held one-woman shows all over Scotland.
Alex is a member of ROYAL GLASGOW INSTITUTE OF FINE ART, PASTEL ARTISTS OF NEW ZEALAND and the KAPITI ARTS AND CRAFTS SOCIETY.
