The Nickelodeon Kids’ Comedy Season 2009

NZ International Comedy Festival presents

The Nickelodeon® Kids’ Comedy Season 2009

All aboard the good ship laughter as the second annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Comedy Season sets sail for comedy fans aged 6-12, come and embark on three wildly different styled shows from the 2nd to the 24th of May!

After a successful first year during the 2008 festival, the NZ International Comedy Festival teams up once more with Nickelodeon, and this year Wellington kids will also get a slice of the action!

Stand Up For Kids is set to play at the Herald Theatre, THE EDGE® in Auckland and will debut in Wellington’s Capital E, Civic Square, McKenzie Theatre. Comedians from all over the festival will entertain kids and adults alike with all new material written especially for the young ‘uns.

The 2009 line up includes critically applauded Scotswoman Janey Godley, clean comedy aficionado Dave Wiggins, Billy T Winner Steve Wrigley and Australia’s own Mickey D - with many more acts to be announced. All the comedians will be cleaning up their act and showcasing their family friendly material.

How do you compress all seven books of the Harry Potter series into seventy minutes? Potted Potter has managed such a feat as David and John cheekily take to the challenge in a whirlwind of costumes, ridiculous props, brilliant songs and magic that Hogwart’s wouldn’t believe muggles would be capable of. Auckland audiences can enjoy an interactive game of Quidditch and fire-breathing dragons, the sell-out success of London’s West End and the Edinburgh Fringe is a must see for both Potter addicts and everyone else.

Theatre Beating, the creators behind 2007 success Rumplestilts have decided to once again embark on the works of traditional fairytales - as ever though there is a twist. In a town overrun by rats and obsessed with pies, a strange musical figure appears one day blowing his trum… pie. Pied Piper of Hamilton follows on from previous Theatre Beating shows such as Happy Hour For Miserable Children and The Magic Chicken with their brand of physical theatre ensuring a show fill of hilarity. And kidnapping. But mostly hilarity.

“Simply, uncompromisingly and most refreshingly hilarious family entertainment” THEATREVIEW, NZ
