Tim Couch & The 40 Hour Famine
When you think World Vision 40 Hour famine your mind might conjure up Barley Sugars & Just Juice, Late Night Christian Slumber party movie fests & attempts at conventional starvation. Mum & Dad called it fasting...& that old lady down the road still owes you a cool $2.50 for your efforts.
This year, Tim Couch, host of our Friday Drive show, is taking the 40 Hour to the next level. Head along to our website & spot the picture of Tim. Underneath you’ll find a link to his sponsorship page. You’ll also have the chance to shape Tim’s 40 Hour challenge by selecting one of five 40 hour challenges. Will it be a Sumo suit, a Simpsons marathon or something mysterious? You decide! Tim’s challenge starts officially on Thursday the 14th of May at 2pm. Stay tuned for a real time audio/video stream of the action unfolding on the homepage.

ON THE RADIO -
6pm Sunday - NATURAL SELECTION – MIDIUM RECORDS w/ Dave Local. This Sunday 10th May, 6 – 8pm on Radio One.
New Zealand has a tendency to produce incredibly groundbreaking music with little fanfare, and Midium Records are a perfect example. Specialising in the darker side of New Zealand's experimental rock scene, they have quietly championed the obtuse rock of Meterman, Dayone & New Way Home, while more recently starting to gather some steam with releases from spacious instrumental rock bands Jakob and Kerretta, as well as two uniquely coherent compilation LPs. Midium Records w/ Dave Local. This Sunday, 6-8pm, only on Radio One.
8pm Sunday - GLOBAL VILLAGE w/ Justine
This week on Global Village Justine takes you to Romania – the home of Dracula. This is the country where Michael Jackson stood on Ceausescu’s balcony and greeted the people of Bucharest with “Hello Budapest”. From the traditional mahala (ghetto) gypsy bands to Eastern European covers of Duke Ellington; from Borat to Johnny Depp’s fav’s Taraf de Haidouks, it’s rollicking brass, insane accordions and gypsy violins galore. Even Vlad the Impaler would be getting down and funky to this show.

RED BULL STUDIO LTA - Thursday the 14th of May at 3.30pm
THE MINT CHICKS
Following the unparalleled artistic and commercial success of Crazy?Yes!Dumb? No! in 2006, the Mint Chicks made a series of moves which might have made no sense to outsiders, but mirrored perfectly the internal logic of their machine.
Firstly, when you've finally cracked the local market, won a boatload of Tuis and gotten mainstream radio play with your bizarro pop, surely it behooves you to retrench and pay back some of that faith? Instead they booked tickets to Portland, capital of the indie rock universe maybe, but around 7,000 miles away from the place which had finally, after five years figured out how to love the prickly young men. Then Screens dropped & we were all refreshed on just why The Mint Chicks are one of the most popular, uncatergorizable, off the hook bands on the planet. Tune in next week at 3.30pm on Thursday to hear them perform live across the bNETS
