New Zealanders got their party pants on and laughed in mass during the opening weekend of the NZ International Comedy Festival.

The hilariously glamorous Cadbury Crunchie Comedy Gala set the tone on Friday May 1, allowing punters to get a quickfire taste of all the amazing talent that is on offer this year. For those who missed out on the live action the Cadbury Crunchie Comedy Gala is set to screen on TV2 on Wednesday May 6 at 8:30pm.

Auckland was alive with sound of laughter with crowds lining up on the street, with the majority of comedy shows full to capacity. SKYCITY Auckland have lit up the SKYTOWER yellow to celebrate the Comedy Festival, use the yellow beacon as your nightly reminder to see comedy shows over the next three weeks!

First Laughs in Wellington launched the festival in the capital on Sunday night, local talent Steve Wrigley reved up the crowd with his impressive MC skills, and made sure everyone got a real comedy bang for their buck.

The NZ International Comedy Festival website reflected the massive surge of interest in comedy , on Friday May 1 the website had over 4000 unique vistors who averaged about 8 pages per visit – New Zealanders are gagging for a laugh and know that the NZ International Comedy Festival is the place to find it!
