NZ Music Month Takes Off With Pacific Blue And Fly My Pretties

Friday 1 May 2009: This year’s NZ Music Month gets off to a flying start this morning at Wellington Airport with an exclusive live gig from a selection of the Fly My Pretties cast and support from Pacific Blue.

Pacific Blue is celebrating its second year as the official airline of NZ Music Month and is also partnering with Fly My Pretties for its tour around New Zealand in May/June.

“Music is a key part of the Virgin Blue and Pacific Blue brands so we’re very happy to once again be supporting a cause that celebrates the talent of Kiwi musicians,” said General Manager Commercial, Adrian Hamilton-Manns.

As part of its sponsorship Pacific Blue will be playing Kiwi music on board its domestic flights during May and its domestic crew will be wearing NZ Music Month badges.

There will also be giveaways on board some domestic flights of tickets to the NZSO and special NZ Music Month t-shirts.

NZ Music Month spokesman Steve Newall said it was great to have the ongoing support of Pacific Blue.

“We’re pleased that Pacific Blue will be promoting Kiwi music on board and getting the word out around the country about NZ Music Month.”

Four members of Fly My Pretties, including Black Seeds lead vocalist Barnaby Weir, will be playing a short set this morning between 7:30 – 8:30am next to Mojo Café at Wellington Airport.

This will be the only time Fly My Pretties members will play live outside of the new shows, and so the only opportunity for media to capture them performing before the nationwide tour which kicks off in Christchurch on May 22.

Fly My Pretties is a multimedia musical show, set in a theatre environment, starring some of New Zealand’s most interesting and contemporary songwriters and performers.
