‘Big Bangers’ of New Zealand Boxing Converge on V8s
Boxers David Tua and Shane Cameron will take a break from their Fight of the Century preparations to bring their own brand of ‘big bangers’ to the 2nd annual Hamilton 400.
David the ‘Tua Man’ Tua and Shane ‘Mountain Warrior’ Cameron will launch their fight campaigns at the V8s on Saturday April 18.
Hamilton 400 organiser Dean Calvert says it’s a great coup for Hamilton to have snared both the super cars and the long awaited Tua/Cameron fight.
“It’s great to have two of New Zealand boxing’s ‘big bangers’ down for Hamilton’s own ‘big bangers’. We’re delighted the promoters have recognised Hamilton as one of the premier events centres of the country and are confident the Fight of the Century will be just as big as the V8s.”
Hamilton City Mayor Bob Simcock says the two highly anticipated sporting occasions highlight Hamilton’s forward thinking and its ability to hold world class events.
“Even though the fight has been delayed, we’re delighted this fantastic event has been re-confirmed for Hamilton.”
Originally scheduled to take place in June, the bout was postponed after Cameron injured his hand during his successful March fight against American Robert ‘Desert Storm’ Davis.
Cameron underwent surgery in April and is recovering well in preparation for the fight.
A new date for the fight is expected to be announced before the end of the April.
David Tua will be meeting fans in the ‘Fight of the Century’ tent on April 18 from 12pm to 2pm. Shane Cameron will be in the tent from 3pm to 5pm.
