New Zealand TAB favours Kiwi Danny Lee to make cut at US Masters

The New Zealand TAB has installed a number of options on Kiwi golfing sensation Danny Lee at the US Masters golf tournament, which tees off at Augusta early on Friday morning (NZ time).

The favoured option is for Lee to make the cut after the second round at $1.70, compared to $2.00 for him to not play the final two rounds. Lee tees off for his first round at 5.41am on Friday 10 April (NZ time). The US Masters field will be cut after the first two rounds to the lowest 44 scores and ties, plus those within 10 strokes of the leader.

Lee, who plans to turn professional after the US Masters, is paying $125 to win the tournament and $20 to finish in the top five. He’s favourite to be the best of the five amateurs in the field, paying odds of $1.55.

The 18-year-old has been grouped with Australian Adam Scott and defending champion South African Trevor Immeman for the first two rounds. Lee is paying $3.65 to be the best of his group for the first round, compared to $2.35 for Scott and $2.45 for Immeman.

Lee gained entry into the US Masters after winning the 2008 US Amateur. He also became the youngest ever player to win a European Tour event when he won the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic last month.

The only other Kiwi in the field, Michael Campbell (2005 US Open winner) is paying $250 to win the tournament and $35 to finish in the top five.

World golfing sensation Tiger Woods is favourite with the New Zealand TAB to win, paying odds of $2.75. He will be looking to claim his 15th professional major golf championship when he tees off at 5.52am on Friday 10 April (NZ time).
