The Big Idea website relaunched
29 March 2009
The Big Idea | Te Aria Nui is proud to launch its new online space for New Zealand's creative community.
"It’s very exciting to see how the new site draws attention to the depth and strength of New Zealand’s creative talent, innovation and diversity," said Elisabeth Vaneveld, on behalf of The Big Idea Trust.
“We’re thrilled that at long last and with the help of some extraordinary people, The Big Idea community now has access to essential digital information and communication tools that really deliver," she said.
With new functionality and content the revamped site provides the inspiration, networks, and opportunities needed to help creative people seed and sustain their big ideas.
It is now much easier and worthwhile to manage and update your profile, submit and read news, interviews and reviews, look for work and add free job listings, connect and list events and media releases, show and sell your creative work and grow your career with our education news, tips, tools and resources. Members can also chat in the forums to build relationships, ask questions and express their opinion.
When members contribute to the site every piece of content can be shown in their profile to help build a rich and deep picture of who they are and what they do, said Project Manager Craig Barlow.
“This raises their profile and means their contribution and work doesn’t go unnoticed and unrewarded.”
By building a comprehensive profile a musician, for example, can promote their work, list their performances, join a directory, look for and find work and keep up to date with the latest news. A music manager or advertising company can then find a musician for specific projects. And with people from all over the world visiting The Big Idea, there are also opportunities to connect globally.
The Big Idea is New Zealand’s number one online community for the creative sector – and the only website that celebrates success and achievements from every genre. Anyone can contribute and connect through the site, with members ranging from individual creators to agencies and large public organisations.
What’s The Big Idea?
The Big Idea seeks to grow the power, strength and capacity of creative people, groups and organisations keen to contribute to New Zealand’s high-value creative economy.
The Big Idea was originally launched in 2001 and it quickly became a vital part of New Zealand’s cultural infrastructure attracting hundreds of thousands of users every year. However, technology and resource limitations meant that The Big Idea could not practically deliver what the community needed. Five years ago, a small creative team at The Big Idea Trust accepted the big challenge of building a new site and after many twists and turns, and a lot of help along the way, the Trust is immensely proud to relaunch The Big Idea as a completely revamped site.
