organised the Wellington International Dance Day festival at Te Papa. This FREE day of dance holds the philosophy that
everyone can dance. The official message for 2009 is that Dance Day 2009 is dedicated to inclusive dance, to encourage
all members of society into our classes and performances. Hence the day will open with a kapa haka performance from
Houghton Bay School, followed by FREE dance workshops for children and young people in Irish, Samba, Jazz, Pre-school
Creative Dance and Hip Hop dance styles. Plus FREE adult demo/have a go dance classes in Brazilian Forrro and
Caperoeira, Cuban Fusion, Salsa and Swing.
A two hour FREE dance performance will occur in the marae (3-5pm) with over 17 Wellington regional dance groups
performing.
