Heavyweight boxer David Tua champions Shave 09

On Friday 13 March, heavyweight boxer and world title contender, David Tua attended a Bunnings Shave for a Cure event in support of the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation (LBF).

The boxer, known for devastating knockouts, helped Bunnings kick off the event by shaving the head of a lucky Bunnings employee, Andrew Grant.

Several other Bunnings employees joined in the fundraising including Peter Darbyshire, Merchandise Manager and Kiri-Lee Austin who shaved her shoulder-length hair.

The event, which occurred at Bunnings Head Office in Mt. Wellington, started off Bunnings community fun day which occurred on 14 March in fifteen locations throughout New Zealand including Hamilton, Auckland, Rotorua and Nelson.

All funds raised by Bunnings Warehouse during the Shave events will go towards funding key components of work – patient support (which costs more than $1,000 a day to provide), awareness and research.
