Research shows Kiwi women’s breasts are getting bigger
Bendon figures show nearly half of bras sold are D cup and above
16 March 2009 – Kiwi breast sizes are on the increase, according to new figures released today by Fayreform.
Sales figures from Bendon, Fayreform’s parent company and New Zealand’s largest lingerie manufacturer, indicate almost
50% of the market in 2008 was D cup and above.
While the C cup is still the number one selling bra size in New Zealand, the D cup is now the second most popular bra
size, with sales over the past three years overtaking the B cup. D – J cup bra sales were up 53% over the past three
years, while AA – C cup bras were only up 2%.
Fayreform Braologist, Carol Rashleigh says she’s not surprised by the results. “I’ve worked with Fayreform for more than
20 years and have lost count of the number of Kiwi women I have fitted. In that time the national bust size has
constantly been on the increase.”
“The changing lifestyles of each generation are one of the factors behind the shift to bigger sizes as bust size can be
affected by changes in exercise levels, diet and hormones.”
Carol says the shift to larger cup sizes highlights the importance of wearing a supportive, correctly fitted bra. “More
than 70% of women in New Zealand wear the wrong bra size or style, which can affect posture, cause back pain and lead to
sagging breasts,” she warns.
“My advice to Kiwi women is to have a professional bra fitting and experience the life-changing results. The correct bra
can completely change a woman’s body shape – it can improve posture, lift everything and give a woman back her
waistline, or simply provide a smooth line under clothing for a discrete bust line.”
To this end, Fayreform, which specialises in D-J cups, is embarking on a nationwide tour with Carol Rashleigh from 18
March, to bring the fitting message to Kiwi women.
Women will have the chance to have a complimentary fitting by one of New Zealand’s leading fitting specialists, Carol,
or one of her experienced team during which they’ll find out their ideal size. Women can also try on different bra
profiles with the fitters as the cup size may vary depending on the style of the bra. [see schedule below for Carol’s
tour times].
Fayreform has more than 70 years technical experience designing and manufacturing lingerie. The latest innovations such
