Dunedin and Christchurch: What Makes a Short Film Great?

 

Script to Screen’s Writer’s Room travels south this March with panel discussions in both Christchurch and Dunedin on how to craft short film that leaves a lasting impression.

The panels will use clips from a variety of local shorts to talk about how the films create a unique cinematic world and why they resonate with the audience.

In Dunedin Producer Christina Milligan will lead the discussion with Writer Director Patrick Gillies, DoP Stephen Downes and Film Commission Short-Film Sales and Marketing Executive Juliette Veber.

The Christchurch panel members will be filmmakers Patrick Gillies and Gillian Ashurst and Film Commission Short-Film Sales and Marketing Executive Juliette Veber.

Wellington and Auckland: Point of View in Short Film with Sima Urale

Writer / director Sima Urale (O Tamaiti, Still Life, Coffee and Allah, Apron Strings) presents a 45-minute talk on crafting the short film with a focus on utilising point of view as both a writer and a director.

Sima will use clips from her own work, including her short film O Tamaiti which won The Silver Lion at Venice.  The talk will be followed by a 15-minute Q & A.

Wellington
