Last Chance For New Zealand Writers To Win $10,000 Award

Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Unpublished Manuscript Award entries close 31 March -

Promising New Zealand writers have just three weeks left to enter their work in the 2009 Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Unpublished Manuscript Award, in association with the New Zealand Society of Authors (NZSA).

All unpublished manuscripts between 20,000 and 100,000 words relating to the mind, body and spirit theme are eligible, and must be submitted by 31 March 2009.

The mind-body-spirit focused competition will award $10,000 to the category winner, one of the largest prizes awarded for literature in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Society of Authors Programme Manager Tina Shaw says that as well as rewarding excellence in writing, the awards support and encourage writers to further their careers whilst promoting growth in mind, body, spirit literature.

"The Unpublished Manuscript Award identifies emerging talent and rewards their contribution to the category.

"In the past winners have found that the award significantly raises the profile of their work and provides a gateway for future opportunities. I would advise all passionate New Zealand writers to give it a go and enter."

As well as the Unpublished Manuscript Award, the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust and the New Zealand Society of Authors are offering another single award of $10,000 for the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Book Award.

Published books must be submitted by 31 May 2009, need to be 48 pages or longer, and must have been published between 1 April 2008 and 31 March 2009.
