Rockburn Parkburn Riesling wins Gold at Royal Easter Show
The Rockburn Parkburn Riesling 2007 has earned a gold medal at the 56th New Zealand Royal Easter Show Wine Awards.
The 2009 competition saw a marked increase in entries compared to previous years with over 1,560 entries across all
varietal categories.
Bob Campbell MW chaired the judging panel which consisted of the highly respected Australian judge, Mike DeGaris, and
Hawkes Bay judge and winemaker Kate Radburn.
Rockburn has a history of winning gold medals, particularly for its Pinot Noir, at such shows as the Air New Zealand
Wine Awards, the NZ International Wine Show and the New Zealand Royal Easter Show Wine Awards. The Rockburn Pinot Noir
2007 also won the “Champion Pinot Noir” Trophy at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards in 2008.
“Our Pinot Noir has always performed extraordinarily well, so it is great to finally be earning more recognition for our
white varieties,” says Director Chris James.
In addition to Pinot Noir and Riesling, Rockburn also produce a Central Otago-grown Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay,
Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris.
Rockburn has two vineyards in Central Otago, one on the Gibbston Back Road in the Gibbston Valley and the other at
Parkburn in the Cromwell basin.
