Another new bet type for Kiwi punters

The TAB’s new betting product – Quaddie – will be launched this Friday, just in time for Auckland Cup Week, giving punters even more chances to win big dividends.

The Quaddie is a multiple leg bet type similar to a Double, Treble and Pick6, but with four legs.

New Zealand Racing Board General Manager of Racing & Wagering Bill Colgan says this new product offers customers the chance to claim huge dividends and also adds another dimension to the excitement of racing.

To celebrate the launch of Quaddie, the New Zealand TAB is offering five guaranteed Quaddie pools of $100,000 each across Auckland Cup Week," he says.

“Picking the Quaddie could get you a really big payday. In Australia, one of the records for picking the Quaddie was on Emirates Stakes Day at Melbourne in 2007 when the dividend reached a whopping $1.39 million.”

The Quaddie is being carefully phased in to help customers understand how it works. Initially it will only be offered on selected domestic race meetings but it will gradually be expanded to more race meetings later this year.

At Thoroughbred meetings, the Quaddie will be offered on the last four races of the day. At Harness meetings, it will start on race four and at Greyhound meetings it will start on race five.

The Quaddie was piloted in New Zealand over the last week at race meetings in Cambridge and Palmerston North and proved to be immediately popular with punters.

Both the Quaddie and the recently launched First4 are intended to be commingled with Australia later this year and feature on a new combined betting slip with the Pick6 and Six Pack.
