Shihad frontman Jon Toogood reveals his favourite movies to Flicks.co.nz
In a Five Films I Love… piece on Flicks.co.nz, Shihad frontman Jon Toogood has revealed how Ian Curtis biopic Control rekindled his passion for Joy Division. “Inspiring, sad and beautiful,” he says of the Anton Corbijn-directed film. He also talks of his love of Japanese anime, visionary director Michel Gondry and how he rates Paul Thomas Anderson’s porn scene drama Boogie Nights over his more often cited Magnolia and There Will Be Blood. “It’s got sex, drugs and cheesy but awesome ‘70s rock ‘n’ roll in abundance!” he says.
Now based in Melbourne, Toogood gives a shout out to the long lost Cinerama movie theatre in Wellington, New Zealand where he grew up. He saw Star Wars there seven times, apparently…
