Artists at their peaks playing at Vector Arena
The BRIT Awards may have been held 18,000km away in London this week, but that doesn’t mean some of the top artists honoured are not winging their way to Auckland.
Kings of Leon, who picked up the Best International Group and Best International Album awards, are playing at Vector Arena March 25 to support their number one selling album Only by the Night.
The following week, on March 31, Welsh soul singer Duffy will perform - she received the coveted Best Album Award, Best British Female Solo Artist and Best British Breakthrough Act.
The award for the Best International Male went to Kanye West, who played to an audience of more than 10,000 people at Vector Arena in December. Kylie Minogue, who also played in Auckland in December, presented the show.
Vector Arena chief executive, Guy Ngata, says the BRIT Awards go to show that the country’s largest indoor arena is drawing world class artists here when they are at the peak of their careers and popularity.
“It’s great to see so many artists getting awards and nominations who are either on their way here, or have recently been here. With Eric Clapton and Coldplay also at Vector Arena in March, it’s shaping up to be a record month,” he says.
