'Edgey art that pushes boundaries and asks questions’

Luxury and Delusion is what the Fringe is all about’

-Critic Magazine

Chanting pop mantra’s whilst performing her beautification ritual, Rose Rowan’s “Luxury and Delusion” an original and delicious Performance Artwork is coming to this Wellington Fringe Festival. She will be getting sticky at The Fringe Bar this February the 18th 19th and 20th.

Fresh back on N.Z shores, Rose is home after performing in the States. Already performed in the Dunedin Fringe(08) and in a Vaueville evening ‘Making Love to the Audience’(08) in Auckland, this is to be the first and last showcase of this memorable work here in Welly.

Luxury and Delusion was born here and talks about ideas that relate to the New Zealand’s context. The work points at the ridiculousness of womens struggle to conform to the media's picture of 'beautiful' or ‘sexy’.

'Rowan's point was absolutely clear: we will go to great lengths to fit in with the norm of beauty.

Meanwhile, we do not realise how ridiculous we are actually looking or how stupid we are in slathering ourselves in things much less sustaining than chocolate sauce’
