Sounds in the Sun
New Zealand’s Biggest Student Run Orientation Event – Back again!
Auckland, New Zealand – February 10, 2009 – Sounds in the Sun Free Festival, New Zealand’s biggest student run
Orientation event is back for 2009 on Thursday February 26th.
The USU Students’ Association at Unitec hosted over four and a half thousand students, staff and local community at the
event in 2008. This year’s line up is bigger and better and the turnout is expected to be at an all time high as
students turn up en masse to see some of the most popular acts of the moment.
The Sounds in the Sun line up features: Kora, Katchafire, Hollie Smith, The Recloose Live Band and P-Money, with other
attractions including skate demonstrations from the Globe Skate Team, a graffiti performance from acclaimed artists plus
games, food, market stalls and a licensed area.
Thousands of people will be partying on the fields at Unitec from noon, enjoying an afternoon of good music, great
company and a cold beer or three.
If you are stuck in the office all afternoon you won’t miss out! Come down after work because Sounds in the Sun will be
pumping into the evening until around 8.30pm.
Sounds in the Sun was created by USU, the Student’s Association and Unitec to bring students and members of the local
community together to celebrate the start of the academic year.
As the only outdoor Orientation event on the New Zealand student calendar, Sounds in the Sun will surpass all other
orientation events, hitting Unitec students with the hottest Orientation event in the country.
Sounds in the Sun is free. Everyone is invited. So make sure you’re at the Unitec Rugby Fields from 12pm on Thursday
26th of February for the biggest Orientation event in New Zealand!
