CMC Markets has assisted the Royal New Zealand Coastguard this summer with a donation that will enable the volunteers to continue saving lives.

Last year the 2,500 active volunteers assisted over 5000 people across New Zealand who found themselves in difficulty on the water.

Sargon Elias, general manager CMC Markets New Zealand took staff to the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre to see first hand the difference that donations make.

“The Coastguard carries out an amazing job of search and rescue in New Zealand, and many times their efforts go unheralded,” says Elias. “Kiwis enjoy time on the water and even when all safety precautions are followed you never know when you may need help.”

Christine Haru, brand relationship manager, Coastguard NZ says, “Donations to Coastguard, such as the one from CMC Markets, are received with much thanks and appreciation. As a not-for-profit organization we couldn’t do what we do, saving lives at sea, without the generous support of New Zealand businesses and communities.”

The Coastguard patrols the New Zealand coastline with 68 units, all of which are operated by communities and local groups concerned with safety at sea. Unfortunately many are usually established following a local boating tragedy.
